1st GRADE : READING : SAVE WATER

"Jingle bells , jingle bells..." Rohit was humming while taking

bath. The tap was running. His elder brother , Rahul ,wanted

to take a bath and go to school.


He called out, " Rohit , please come out."


Rohit would not come out.


Their mother said, "Rohit , come out. Rahul is getting late for

school."


But Rohit would just not listen to anyone.


Well, Rohit had this habbit. He would leave the tap running

and let the water flow. Sometimes , there would be no water

left for others.


Suddenly , Rohit stopped singing. There was no sound of the

running water, too. Rahul thought , may be, now he will come

out.


"Mummy , my eyes are stinging. Bring some water. The water

has stopped ,"yelled Rohit.


There was not a single drop of water. Not even to wash

soap from his eyes!


Mother quickly rushed with a mugful of water. Rohit stood

there covered with soap and crying.


Then his mother gave him water to wash his face.


She said, " Now you understand what happens when you waste

water. This is a lesson for you, Rohit. You should not waste

water." Rohit realized his mistake. He promised never to waste

water again.

The Thapas lived in a small house. Through the house was  small, the neighbourhood was good. There were many houses and the people were helpful. All the families were lived happily together.
