The Thapas lived in a small house. Through the house was
small, the neighbourhood was good. There were many houses
and the people were helpful. All the families were lived happily
together.
Soon, Mr. Thapa bought a new and a bigger house in the plains.
So the family had to shift to the new house.
Thapas had a seven-year-old daughter named Chicky. The
family took its belongings to the new house in an ox-driven
wagon, with the cow walking behind. Chicky was very sad.
She didn't want to leave her home in the hills.
Mrs and Mr Thapa liked their new house. But Chicky felt
alone and lost in the big house. She missed her friends and
neighbours.
One Sunday morning, as the sun rays gently entered Chicky's
room, her sleep was broken by a soft sound. She set up on
her bed.
What did she see?
Well, on her table was a cane basket. in the basket there was
a small furry black pup which was whining. He had a red box
tied around its neck.
Chicky was delighted. She gently picked up the puppy and
cuddled it in her arms. The puppy stopped whining.
She ran up to her mummy and papa with her new friends in her
arms. Her bright smiling face said everything.
Mummy and papa smiled at Chicky and said, "So dear, what
have you decided to call your new friend?"
"Well, Blackie would do just fine," replied Chicky with a wide
grin.
