Towards a better me : Step 2 : KEEPING SAFE

                             Rishi's Adventure

Rishi was waiting for his mother to pick him up from his music

class."How can Mummy be so late today?" Rishi thought

impatiently." Has she forgotten that we are going to the

acrobatics show?"

Just then a car stopped near him. A man learned out of the

window.

"He , Rishi," he called. Rishi had seen the man once or twice

near his music class but he didn't know his name.

"I,m Vikas," said the man , putting out his hand through the

window.

"Your mother couldn't come , so she sent me to pick you up,"

said the man. Rishi was surprised. He had no idea that his

mother knew this man.

"Don't worry, I won't kidnap you," the man laughed.

Rishi smiled faintly, uncomfortable that the man had guessed

what he was thinking.

Rishi shook hands but did not get into the car. He thought to

himself," When Mummy gets held up , she usually asks Aunt

Indu for help , not someone I don't know."

"I'm getting late ," said Vikas, sounding annoyed. "If you don't

come with me, get into the car.

"Mummy has told me never to talk to strangers,"he told

himself,"and this man is a stranger to me."

"Oh, I forgot ! said Vikas. "Your mother sent this chocolate for

you. She thought you might be hungry."

Rishi relaxed, but not because of the chocolate. Aunt Indu had driven up alongside.

" Sorry Vikas...," he begun, but Vikas had sped away. "who

was that man ? asked Aunt Indu, as Rishi hopped into the front

 seat.

"Good for you, Rishi!" she said approvingly, when Rishi had

related his story. "Remember that your mother will always

send someone you know to pick you up. She asked me to pick

you up just now because she had to get tickets for the

acrobatics show."

"Thanks, Aunty," said Rishi, smilling happily at the thought of

the treat in store for him.
